Accessibility Guide

Accessible Entrance

John Paul Jones Arena has a dedicated accessible entryway leading immediately to elevators for your convenience. You can find this entrance directly to the left of our Box Office.

Accessible Parking

John Paul Jones Arena has accessible parking located in the Main West Lot and the Garage Entrance. These parking spots are filled on a first come first served basis.

Assisted Listening Devices

Assisted listening devices are available upon request from the Guest Services Desk located in the Main West Lobby. A valid driver’s license or photo ID will be requested as a deposit for the equipment.

Captioning

Requests for captioning should be made at least ten (10) business days prior to the event. The ADA Facilitator may be unable to fill a request if made less than ten (10) business days in advance of an event. To request captioning, please reach out to us at johnpauljonesarenainfo@virginia.edu

Elevators

John Paul Jones Arena has two (2) public elevators, one located to the left of the Box Office and one located to the left of the South Entrance. These elevators provide access to all levels.

Purchase Accessible Seating

John Paul Jones Arena is accessible and committed to a comfortable, enjoyable experience for all patrons.

ADA ticketing is available for purchase online via our official ticketing platforms; Ticketmaster.com and AXS.com. Please note all seats are sold on a first come first served basis.

Sensory Inclusive Venue

Kulture City sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, fidget toys, noise canceling headphones and other resources, are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our Guest Services Desk located in the Main West Lobby.

Service Animals

Trained service animals are permitted to assist guests inside John Paul Jones Arena. If special accommodations are required for your service animal, please notify us at the time of ticket purchase or by calling 434-924-3537.

Guests bringing in service animals may not take up additional seats unless a ticket has been purchased for the adjacent seat but may request accessible seating. All other animals are prohibited.

Sign Language and Interpreted Performances

ASL interpreter services may be requested (at no cost to the patron) by contacting John Paul Jones Arena at johnpauljonesarenainfo@virginia.edu at least 10 days prior to the event.

The venue will do its best to facilitate all ASL requests and cannot guarantee all requests will be fulfilled, due to interpreter availability.

Wheelchair Seating

Individuals who contact John Paul Jones Arena regarding the purchase of tickets for wheelchair accessible and/or companion seats for reasons relating to a disability will be informed of all available such seating that has not been sold at that time and will be given first preference for such tickets. Individuals can also purchase ADA seats online at Ticketmaster.com or AXS.com.

John Paul Jones Arena does not have wheelchairs to loan out to patrons. Wheelchairs are only provided for medical emergencies.
